Department of Arabic

We should not under estimate the significance of the Arabic Language. It is the mother tongue of more than 250 million Arabs. The majority is found between Morocco in the west and Iraq in the east amounting to one seventh of the world’s population. People around the world revere Arabic as the language of the Holy Quran. The Holy Quran has preserved Arabic in its Present form. It is the main source of spoken and writing language.

Arabic in the modern World: Arabic has developed over the last century to incorporate new words and idioms such as new technological terms. Translation of European works of literature in Arabic accelerated the process.

The Properties of Arabic Language: Arabic is superior to other languages of the world in several respects as described such as

  1. Its grammar
  2. Totalitarianism of meaning
  3. Melody
  4. Synonyms and antonyms
  5. Similarity of forms and rhymes of words
  6. Vastness and ability for adoption

This gives Arabic the vastness it has today and make it one of the most modern language of the world. It is the living language always extending a welcome hand to new entrants and adds to the vocabulary. The original Arabic text of the Quran has been presented from the time of its revelation. Translation have been done into various language but they all refine back to the original Arabic in order to fully understand the rich and poetic classical Arabic language.

Since understanding Arabic is so important most Muslims try learn at least the basics. The Osmania University Degree syllabus helps the students to enrich and correct the language learnt. The Arabic syllabus includes grammar which is extensively taught to make students proficient in Arabic classical prose includes Surah’s from the holy Quran and its translation and explanation. Islamic History is also part of the syllabus. Student mastery over the language is judged by making them write composition in Arabic. Modern prose and poetry and Arabic to English translation or English to Arabic translation is also included in the syllabus.

The Department of Arabic organizes naath competitions and Quran Khani every year in ramdhan we also take the students to semenar and symposium organized by All India Muslim Personal Law board, Muslim girls organization calligraphy exhibition at salarjung Muslim guest lectures are also organized.

Department of Hindi

The Department of Hindi aims at providing teaching and research facilities in Hindi keeping in view the changing social norms, communication patterns, different social roles of language in our society and fast changing literary values in our time. While drawing up the syllabus, sufficient care has been taken to cater to the above needs. It has been kept flexible enough to incorporate various requirements of the students in the context of contemporary society. Special attention is also given to the regional and comprehensive studies of language and literature.

Hindi is our National language. Hindi is the language of the freedom loving race. Our constitution has made Hindi the fedral language of the country. It may serve as a medium of expression for all the elements of the composite culture of India. Now Hindi permitted to continue for official purpose also. Hindi should be compulsory subject in some technical institutions. Hindi and Hindi literature have equal importance. It breathes the very spirit of the liberty and of the love of democracy and social quality. The study of hindi and hindi literature enhance good personal and social values which fosters the creation good personality In world languages Hindi is the second favored language because Hindi is very easy to understand. Hindi is the heart of India and Hindi is the language of the prestigious people.

The Department of Hindi organizes competitions such as debate, elocution, just a minute, essay writing every year on 14 September celebrating Hindi Divas. The department also makes the students perform plays during the annual day and cultural programme Talim Aur Thazeeb.

Department of Sanskrit

Our desire is to teach and learn sanskrit is an ancient language. It’s a Veda Basha. The Base of many subjects such as ayurveda, Natya shastra, Nyaya shastra, Ganitha shastra, Aalakara shastra. emerged from Sanskrit. Now- a-days due to lack of awareness everyone feels that learning Sanskrit is difficult. Indian culture is totally based on Sanskrit only.

We try to teach the basic thing needed to understand the language to the young generation as they are the backbone of our country.

So a motivate them to learn the language well as the basis of life and culture is Sanskrit and it will be helpful in the later stages of their life.

Sanskrit has found a good place in all educational Institutions where students come with renewed Interest to learn the language and the values from it which will help in building there character to leading to peaceful life.

Department of English

English a global language is the Lingua – Franca. It is a window to the world and a Universal Language. It is the Language of Modern times. English is one of the largest spoken languages in the world. English speakers are spread all over the world . Knowledge of English is essential for the understanding of modern science, technology, trade, commerce etc. In Information technology, all computer languages are based on English. Teaching English at the degree level gives us a chance to explore the vistas of Literature, Phonetics, soft skills and grammar. With the upgrading of the syllabus every three years Listening, speaking, reading, and writing are greatly emphasized. The faculty understands that self assessment is very necessary as it is a positive factor for growth and development.

The Faculty attends orientation programmes organized by The Department of English Osmania University every year.

We have to keep repeating work which we feel acceptable. The goal of the department is to increase the number of learning activities to develop students, oral, written and communicational skills in English through excellence in teaching and effective instructional learning strategies. The department makes use of Audio – Visual room to make the students versatile.

Apart from the curriculum students also get a chance to express themselves in the classroom discussion. The Department also organizes elocution, Essay writing, Debate, Just a minute and spelling bee. The Department has also been active in conducting extension lectures, performing plays, Contributing write-up towards the college magazine and arranging field trips to book exhibitions.

We work with the mission to achieve excellence in every field. This is the vision and goal of the institution and the department. We aim at a holistic approach to the acquisition of Lingua Franca.
